VISION BMW ALPINA: SPEED, REFINED

Some cars demand attention. ALPINAs never have.
For decades, ALPINA has occupied a unique space in the automotive world. Faster and more capable than your average luxury sedan, yet more refined and understated than a traditional performance car, ALPINA has always appealed to drivers who appreciate engineering depth over noise. It has never been about lap times, oversized wings, or dramatic styling. Instead, it’s been about effortless speed, long-distance comfort, and a level of craftsmanship that reveals itself over time.
When BMW acquired the rights to the ALPINA brand in 2022, many enthusiasts had the same question: What happens next?
After all, ALPINA isn’t just another performance badge. It’s one of the few automotive brands that has successfully carved out its own identity alongside BMW. Over the years, it has earned a loyal following by doing things differently. Quieter. More refined. More considered.
That’s why the unveiling of the Vision BMW ALPINA at the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este caught our attention. More than a design study, it serves as the first glimpse into ALPINA’s future under BMW Group stewardship. And from what we’ve seen so far, BMW appears to understand exactly what made the brand so special in the first place.
The first thing that stands out is what BMW didn’t do.
They didn’t turn ALPINA into an M car.
The Vision BMW ALPINA is elegant, restrained, and confident in a way that feels unmistakably ALPINA. BMW describes the design as “Second Read” sophistication with details that reveal themselves gradually rather than demanding attention immediately. The illuminated kidney grille, modernized deco-lines, and evolved interpretation of the iconic 20-spoke wheel design all feel familiar without being nostalgic.
It’s a modern ALPINA, not a retro one.
That becomes even more apparent when you look at the car that inspired it. BMW has cited the legendary ALPINA B7 Coupé of the late 1970s as a major influence on the Vision BMW ALPINA. It was a car that helped establish the formula enthusiasts still associate with the brand today: exceptional performance, remarkable comfort, and the ability to cover vast distances without drama.
Looking at the Vision BMW ALPINA, it’s hard not to see that same philosophy carried forward.

The same approach continues inside.
Rather than chasing oversized screens or futuristic gimmicks, the cabin focuses on craftsmanship. Full-grain leather sourced from the Alpine region, crystal controls, open-pore wood, and carefully executed details create an environment that feels tailored rather than technical.
Even the rear passengers are treated to uniquely ALPINA touches, including illuminated crystal glasses and a bespoke water bottle integrated into the centre console.
Underlying every element of the concept is a philosophy established by ALPINA founder Burkard Bovensiepen, who famously believed that “a comfortable driver is a faster driver.” That thinking continues today through features such as ALPINA’s Comfort+ drive mode, designed to deliver exceptional refinement without compromising performance.
Perhaps that’s what reassures us most about this concept.
BMW hasn’t tried to reinvent ALPINA.
Instead, the Vision BMW ALPINA suggests a future that respects the values that made the brand worth preserving in the first place: subtlety, craftsmanship, comfort, and effortless performance.
Here at Parkview BMW, we’ve always appreciated what makes an ALPINA different. They’re vehicles that reward the driver not with drama, but with confidence. They make long journeys feel shorter, high speeds feel effortless, and every detail feel considered.
The first production BMW ALPINA model of this new era is expected to arrive next year, inspired by the BMW 7 Series but developed with unmistakable ALPINA character.
If this concept is any indication, we’d say the future is in very good hands.
